PARTNER PERSPECTIVES

APACdr Summit was supported by organisations workign across carbon removal deploument, market infrastrucutre, finance, industrial systems and public engagement.

"Asia-Pacific represents the next frontier for carbon removal deployment. The region's industrial infrastructure, agricultural systems, and forward-thinking policy environment create unique opportunities to integrate carbon removal into real economic pathways, not just as offsets. Building this ecosystem now means we can scale solutions that work within existing supply chains and create tangible value for communities and industries across the region. Carba is excited to be building the future of carbon removal here in the APAC region."

Asia Pacific accounts for 60% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, and carbon removals will be a part of the net zero journey. The region has been progressing extensively with more clarity on guidelines, higher buyer demand, and more high-integrity suppliers. Climeworks has been working in the region for almost 3 years and is catering to flagship partnerships like NYK Line, Mitsui OSK Lines and recently NTT Data, and multiple suppliers across multiple carbon removal pathways. We participate at Ecosperity each year and are excited to see the growing awareness and action-oriented mindset of industry and policy leaders towards carbon removals.

Trishna Nagrani

Head of Asia Pacific

"There's no question that we need to accelerate carbon removals to keep decarbonisation progress on track. The APACdr Summit showed that Asia Pacific has huge potential to scale this progress. Backed by companies like Golden Agri-Resources that combine agribusiness infrastructure and on-the-ground operating experience with sustainable, traceable feedstock, we believe that our region has an opportunity to create real value for producers, purchasers and the planet."

CEO, Nature-Based Solutions and Biochar

"Asia Pacific is a critical region for economic growth and major industrial activity, with large and growing demands for carbon sequestration and storage capacity. More simply, this is the workshop of the world, under increasing pressure to decarbonise. APAC is also a critical region for nature, containing some of the largest remaining tracts of tropical forests, but it faces continuing high rates of deforestation that drive significant emissions. Nature will therefore be a major component of APAC's decarbonisation story, particularly through developing reforestation, restoration, and avoided deforestation projects. Space Intelligence plays a keystone role in the infrastructure enabling these projects' growth. As a geospatial technology and dsata provider, we underpin various foundations of the market: including creating baseline data for the VCM under VM0048 in a long-term commercial partnership with Verra, and supplying baseline data for Japan's Joint Crediting Mechanism (indicating the increased demand for credits for Japan's heavily industrialized economy). We also directly support the flow of capital into these projects by providing technology services that helps companies de-risk their commitments: this year, our business was selected by the Symbiosis Coalition to provide Due Diligence services supporting carbon offtake for large US tech companies. Singapore is now developing the ARC Coalition, representing APAC buyers, providing further strong demand for high integrity carbon credits.

Together, these perspectives reflect the Summit's purpose, connecting CDR to the financial, industrial and policy systems needed for regional deployment.

Continuing the work

APACdr Summit built on work already underway through the APACdr Working Group, a regional platform convened by Emerald Climate and the Carbon Business Council.

APACdr Working Group is a Singapore-anchored working group convening policymakers, financial institutions, corporate buyers, project developers, and civil society leaders to align on practical pathways to scale carbon removal. The inaugural session in January 2026 brought together 26 organizations spanning financial institutions, multinational corporations, carbon project developers, ratings agencies, and non-profit organizations, reflecting broad regional engagement and cross-sector commitment.

The fourth session will close the first half of the year, taking stock of insights and shaping priorities for what comes next.

The APACdr Summit confirmed a clear regional need, Asia Pacific has the demand, supply potential and policy relevance to play a defining role in carbon removal, but the market remains fragmented.

The next phase is about moving from conversation to coordination, supporting credible demand, investable supply, trusted standards and practical collaboration between government, finance, buyers, suppliers and civil society.

APACdr will continue working with partners to explore what kind of regional platform is needed to support the region shape this market with integrity and confidence.
